I added this book to my list without realizing that it was an excerpt of The Brothers Karamazov, which I had read but to which I meant to go back. From the turmoil of the s emerged Notes from the Undergrounda psychological study of an outsider, which marked a major advancement in Dostoyevsky’s artistic and creative development.


Still, it did hold my interest, and at some point, I would certainly like to read The Brothers Karamazov to see this piece in context.
