Cabot’s best paranormal book yet! Her aunt and uncle welcome her to their Manhattan town house, but her beautiful cousin Tory isn’t so thrilled. It features a girl running away from her little town in Iowa to the big city New York to get away from a stalker.

I love how she depicts New York. The witch part felt like it was added at the request of the publisher. With the arrival of Jean things start to change for Tory, Jean refuses to join the coven’s cousin, “steals” the best friend, steal the guy she likes and the attention from her parents.

If I hadn’t been listening to this audio book while driving I would’ve DNF’d this title around chapter Then Tory is sent to boot camp and Jean and Zack end up dating.

I have always been a fan of her work and have read all of her books. I hated me, hearing myself described in such a way. Girl has hidden problem alluded to but not openly discussed, girl sees hot guy who makes her insides melt but doesn’t know how to get him to notice her, girl makes a fool of herself trying to get said cute guy.

I read this book years ago, but remembered nothing about it, so I decided it was time for me to reread it. Also, while the story caabot clearly a standalone and while I applaud and appreciate it, it sort of faded in the back of my mind because Cabot has so many great series. In all, I really did enjoy this book.
