Top Reviews Most recent Top Reviews. As you may have guessed my favourite character, actually one of my all time favourite characters from fiction was Jude McGregor not Robert Powers, that was a terrible pseudonym Jude who took his final bow, grudgingly, at the end of Checkmate.

I was also disappointed that Sephy was in this novel so infrequently as I enjoyed her character much more as she aged. I waited months for it to come out, and read it in two days which involved my English teacher threatening to convincate it because I stayed up to midnight reading XD.

Throughout the course of this novel, Malorie Blackman sprinkles bits and pieces of Callie Rose’s life prior to the dramatic series of events that open Checkmate. Meanwhile, Callie Rose is paying more attention to feeling hurt when Tobey takes a sniff of her perfume and tells her she smells like biscuits.


Why did you do that Malorie? Man, I think that there were four titles on the rack of popular books at the airport this week maporie had James Patterson’s name on the cover either by himself or with a co-writer. Jude feels that Sephy is responsible for Callum’s death and wants to make sure that Sephy will not see Callum’s next birthday since Callum had not doublee his next birthday. The book was still fantastic as Malorie creates an amazing story again while st I enjoyed this book but I think the series should have ended on the last book as this one seemed pretty unnecessary and didn’t add much to the overall series.

A very good book. The series describes an alternative history in which African people had gained a technological and organisational advantage over the European peoplerather than the other way around, with Africans having made Europeans their slaves. Sephy tells Jude that she knew that he intended to kill her just before midnight since it was Callum’s birthday that day.

I just didn’t care as much. Jude, Callum’s older brother, watches Sephy enter her apartment building, and he plans to kill her.
